Looking for a club to join or just a course to visit? Check out these four top golf courses located within two hours of Bangkok.
Thai Country Club
If you’re looking for a tough course with all of the luxuries, Thai Country Club is the place to go. Located about 50 minutes from downtown Bangkok, this prestigious course draws professionals and amateurs alike from around the world. It’s been the home to a number of tournaments since it was opened in 1996.
Water features and palm trees accent this tropical oasis, and the clubhouse offers a number of luxuries, including pristine locker rooms, a high-end restaurant, and a pro shop. Visitor prices start at 5,600 baht.
Located just 25 minutes from downtown Bangkok, Thana City Golf & Country Club offers a tricky, yet slightly less difficult course than at the Thai Country Club. The caddies here are rumoured to be some of the best in the area, and can help even the unexperienced amateur up their game. This gorgeous court was actually designed to be the showpiece of the luxury condominium complex that surrounds it, so the scenery is one of its best features.
Thana City Golf & Sports Club offers much more than just an excellent golf course. With tennis courts, a driving range, fitness facilities, and more, the club offers something for every visitor. It’s also a great club to join if you are new to the city and recently bought or rented a condo or home in Bangkok. They even have a golf academy where you can learn new skills or hone old ones. Visitor prices start at 3,400 baht.
Just under two hours away from downtown Bangkok is Siam Country Club. The club’s main course is actually an older one that closed down for several years before reopening following a complete makeover. It was the first privately owned golf course in Thailand, making it a must see for any golf-enthusiast visiting the country.
The so-called Old Course is now complemented by two newer courses, Plantation and Waterside, located nearby, that also offer beautiful scenery and challenging greens. Prices start at 3,222 baht for the Old Course, 1,751 baht for the Plantation course, and 3,257 baht for the newest course, Waterside.
Alpine Golf & Sports Club
Considered to be one of the most difficult courses in Thailand, Alpine Golf & Sports Clubs is also one of the most popular. The course is located about an hour from downtown Bangkok. Its biggest claim to fame may be that it was the site of Tiger Woods’ Johnnie Walker PGA Tour victory in 2000. The course is hilly, which is a nice contrast from Bangkok’s otherwise flat landscape and a welcome challenge for experienced golfers.
Luxury comes at a cost at Alpine Golf & Sports Club. Visitor fees start at 6,100 baht, higher than most other courses in the city. However, fine dining, luxury facilities, and a stand-out course make it worth the extra cost.
