Thailand is the perfect destination choice for many Europeans. The culture, the food, the diversity, climate and huge array of things to see and do are just a few reasons they choose to visit here.
Furthermore, flying to Thailand could be cheaper than many destinations far closer to home for Europeans as flight prices have continued to plummet.
Flights are currently available from some hugely reputable companies for less than £500 (from the UK) flying into Bangkok Suvarnabhumi. This isn’t just on selected flights, either. We’ve monitored the prices of flight companies such as British Airways, Emirates, Etihad and Thai Airways for several months now and can confirm: There has never been a cheaper time to fly to Thailand.
So, what are the options?
Thankfully, the internet is the perfect place to scan flight times and costs in an instant, and there’s a handy website called Sky Scanner to search the various flights from most major airlines. Enter the departing airport, where you’re flying to, departure and return dates (if applicable). You’re then ready to start searching!
We researched some flight prices for October 2016. Here’s what we found at the time of writing.
All flights departing on the 1st October and returning on the 15th October 2016 from four different European Countries:

We’ve flown with various companies and have to say, the aforementioned have all been very good to us. If you are not worried about being on a plane for 11-12 hours from Britain or other parts of Europe then flying direct is less hassle, albeit slightly more expensive. British Airways, EVA Air and Thai Airways are the main airlines that fly direct to Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi Airport. Emirates and Etihad both land at their Gulf hubs en route. Conveniently, this is roughly half the journey from the UK to Bangkok. From experience, this break between can help to reduce jet lag and provides the perfect opportunity to stretch your legs.
Luggage Allowance
Flying with a stop at a connecting airport will usually work out even cheaper than flying direct, so make sure you shop around for the best deals to suit you.
Do look out for extra charges such as baggage or in-flight meals and compare to other prices. You should get 25kg luggage allowance and a carry on bag as standard from most long-haul flights. In addition, they usually include complimentary refreshments and several meal choices to choose from.

- Fly into Bangkok – it will usually be cheaper than flying into Phuket
- Avoid peak times – such as Mid-July to the end of August
- Check departure days – Leaving on a certain day could cost you more money
