The green lungs of Bangkok
Cycling and nature-enthusiasts alike will enjoy this oasis in the heart of Bangkok. The real name of this parcel of government-owned land is Bang Krachao. Surrounded my the Chao Phraya River, a short ferry ride will land you on this beautiful island.
Enjoy a relaxing bike ride along tree-lined, raised pathways. Shop in the famous floating market, where you can enjoy hand-made items and tasty local fare. If you want to learn more about the history of the area, you can even take a bike tour. After a few hours enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of this oasis, you’ll forget that you’re anywhere near civilization, let alone realise you are in the middle of Bangkok.
Chatuchak Park / Wachirabenchatat Park
Another lush getaway in the middle of the city is just a train ride away! Thanks to Bangkok’s excellent rail line, you can get to Chatuchak Park from anywhere in Bangkok. Once there, you can enjoy bike rentals, relax on the green space, enjoy the views of the tranquil lake, or enjoy the park’s beautiful gardens.
Right next door to Chatuchak Park is Wachirabenchatat Park. Originally built as a golf course, the park is now home to trails for biking and walking, as well as plenty of open, green space. The park’s most well-kept secret is a display of miniature buildings and monuments, modeled after landmarks around Bangkok and across Thailand.
Thai Wake Park
With so many gorgeous beaches along Thailand’s coast, you might be surprised to learn that one of the most popular locations for watersport is actually located inland, right in the middle of Bangkok!
Thai Wake Park is a haven for experienced and novice wake boarders. A cable takes the place of a boat, and pulls boarders around the circular lake. There are even ramps and other obstacles for those looking to hone their skills and tricks. There’s also a pro shop on site for all of your water sports needs.
TE Wake N Ski
Thai Wake Park isn’t the only option for those looking to enjoy some watersports near the city. Located just outside of Bangkok, in the rice farming community of Pratum Thani is TE Wake N Ski.
This man made lake offers traditional wakeboarding, where boarders are pulled behind a boat. They also offer wakesurfing, wake skating, water skiing, and more. With a resort and restaurant on site, TE Wake N Ski is the perfect weekend getaway for thrill seekers young and old.
